The new RSF homepage
Welcome to the site of the new Richmond Scout Fellowship. Have a look at the pages here to find out who we are and what we do. At the moment we’re still getting things up and running so things are looking a little bare. Check back soon for lots of pictures and comments on what we’ve been doing. Feel free to contact us with any comments or questions.
First Events! updated 08/05/08 13:13
So far we’ve been to a pub quiz and done a bit of bowling. We’re planning to go zorbing (throwing yourself downhill in an inflatable ball) and we’re also organising a weekend camp at some point (probably at Walton Firs or Phasels Wood.) Apparently it’s also important that everyone knows it’s Danni’s birthday on the 14th June - so buy her a pressie!
Sorry I haven’t updated things in a while. I’ve been a bit unwell, but I’m within the next week or so I’ll start organising things for borough camp.
Borough Camp: The idea is to publicise the group in the run up to borough camp and then have a leaders’ activity at the camp itself. We’d like this to be a big launch event, so if you’d like to help and get involved, let us know.
BREAKING NEWS: Fellowship team wins the jackpot at the pub quiz!
It has to be said, our first event was pretty successful; a few of us went to The Old Anchor Pub in Twickenham. We talked a bit about getting this fellowship thing up and running - progress is a bit slow at the moment, but the general impression was that things were headed in the right direction (at least that was my impression! - Ed.) Perhaps more importantly though, our collective general knowledge won us the jackpot of £84! So, a good evening all round; many thanks to all who came. Let’s keep things moving and make this group an integral part of scouting for adults in Richmond.
Got an idea for an activity?
So far, suggestions have included camping, hiking, rifle shooting and certification (to enable you to supervise shooting sessions for the scouts,) bowling, social evenings at the hall (or maybe in the pub - remembering to drink responsibly, of course!) and canoeing.
If you have any ideas for activities or want to express interest in any of the ones above, simply add a comment on our suggestions page.
Activities do not have to be arranged through us - if you have organised something and would like to let other people join in, send us the details and we’ll add it to the site.

A little bit about why we are starting this group
As a leader at 3rd whitton for the last twelve years or so, I’ve enjoyed running cubs, scouts and helping occasionally at beavers. I know that most leaders enjoy the same activities as the scouts -archery, abseiling, climbing, rifle shooting, pot holing, camping etc. There’s always the hope there will be an odd number of scouts so that we can join in (just to make up the numbers of course!) I realised that by setting up a new group, I could do these activities whenever I liked, without having to organise and supervise the kids. I also thought it would be a great way for leaders to get to know one another away from district meetings and events, strengthening links between the groups.
Looking into the options for people over eighteen, network and fellowship were the two choices. Unfortunately, I’ve missed network by a few years, so a new fellowship was the way forward. All I needed was some members. Initially I’ve targeted 3rd whitton leaders and parents, and we are really a group fellowship at this stage. The big plan is to expand into the district and the group is open to anyone who wants to join from any of the groups in richmond. The more people that join, the better the group will be!
